Breakfast at West Beach Surf Life Saving Club – 22nd of May

Well the Weather could not have been any worse – Cold, Wet and Windy but the Stude’s were brave enough to face it. 17 and ¼ members showed up – fantastic turn out. We all filled our bellies with Bacon & Eggs and Coffees & Hot Chocolate. Discussion at the table of course was about Studes.

After we were all full some members cruised down to Outer Harbor, stopping half way for a Hot Chocolate then Cruised back to Semaphore where everyone then took their own path home.

April 2011

As this is our South Australian Club’s 40th Anniversary, the committee is working hard to make it a successful year. Meredith and Brenton are working on making a DVD made up of past events, members and cars over the years which will be available to current members at our celebration dinner in August.

This year we need all members to support our club by attending as many meetings and outings as you can. By attending meetings and getting your input, we are able to make outings interesting and variable.

Ray Lamming is writing up a membership list which will be posted out to all shortly.

I was unable to attend the April meeting as Joyleen and I had made arrangements to attend the National Meet in Western Australia.

My congratulations to the Western Australia Committee led by Jim, Leonie & Keely Wade and Mark Trouchet for a very successful weekend.

We were thoroughly spoilt throughout our time there by being transported to and from events, fed enormous meals and treated to seeing some really great Studebakers.

The Sain family alone brought 25 Studes between them to the Show Day and then kindly treated 50 of us on Monday to a tour of their 3 homes and garages – WOW – all the ladies were impressed with the 2 stretch limos in Duane’s garage.

After the tour we were treated to another great meal served on the tray of one of their trucks at Sain’s Studebaker Repair Shop.

We were kindly taken to Airport by Graham Wright and Tim Green from NSW and as we were early, caught an earlier flight back to Adelaide. However some ½ hour into our flight the Captain said our wing flaps weren’t working and had to return to Perth – but first had to burn off fuel by cruising around for an hour or so. Eventually we set off again – different plane but heading for Adelaide – Home Sweet Home.

While away we had the pleasure of the company of David & Lynne Date, Tony & Julie Pead who will be the coordinators of the Newcastle meet in 2013. After viewing their DVD of the next venue, I am sure this will also be a great time for all.

So South Australia members start thinking about the next National and give it your support. I am sure we can create a convoy from here and have a great time along the way. I have Registration forms available.
